You will no doubt recall my recent News item about Andy Strangeway "Island Man". Well, long before my contact with Andy I had for the last 12 months been following a blog from Tracy Hallett and Daniel Calder on their British Island Adventure.
Early last year Tracy and Daniel gave up their full time jobs and set out on their journey to visit and document the thousands of islands of Great Britain. To date they have visited 73, so their is along way to go !
Their favourite islands include Jura, Muck, Tiree(above centre), Brownsea Island, Kerrera and Rum. Although I have not visited Brownsea, I have seen it across the water and it must have something special as it is the odd one out - the rest being off the west coast of Scotland, one of my own favourite locations.
You can follow the journey at their blog A British Island Adventure or there are regular updates in the magazine Outdoor Photography, where Tracy was the editor prior to starting their adventure. There are some excellent photos in the blog and the magazine.
Although they are currently recuperating they will be restarting their journey soon by visiting Mersea and Cornwall in the next few months, then all being well, a nice long trip to the Outer Hebrides, followed by the Scilly Isles.
I wish them luck in their continuing adventure.
If you are aware of others with similar adventures in the British Isles to Tracy, Daniel and Andy please let me know so I can include their stories in my Adventures and Adventurers links.
